installer crashes when i try to install. I have devteam JB, it downloads fine but the install part crashes immediately. when i SSH in all i see is "about.png" in the iswitcher.app directory
ignore my previous post. i was out of room on that partition, ran bosstool, and freed up about 85 mb. got it installed but the theme still wont take. does the same as what it did before
the themes have been correctly installed into /var/mobile/media/themes because i can see them in there. it looks like its working but the theme just doesnt apply. hope this helps.Last edited by 2004a4; 01-31-2008 at 04:51 AM. Reason: Automerged Doublepost

greg....just installed with the official Devteam release from the conceitedsoftware installer, and nothing is working. It did uninstall the original wallpaper though. I'm not sure what the main difference is between the Nate jb and the Devteam jb, but the Nate's definitely seemed to be more compatible with 3rd part non sdk apps.....who knows. Thanks for trying buddy.

I removed the temp source and placed v2.73.6 on the regular source:
www.meachware.com/list.xml
This version has the revised script which is my last effort to resolve the Dev Team jail break incompatibility. It is clearly labeled in Installer as "iSwitcherAE Nate's 1.1.3"White 3G

You could certainly "try" it... there's no way it can break your phone. What will happen is, well nothing... it won't install any icons.
Does either Terminal app run on your phone?White 3G

Okay, latest attempt to correct the Dev Teams 1.1.3 incompatibility....
Add this source (temporary):
www.meachware.com/iSwitcherDev.xml
I have installed this version on my iPhone (Nate's) and it seems to be working fine, v2.73.7. Once again, those one the Dev Teams 1.1.3 jail break, please let me know if any of the options work. Thanks
Edit: It would be interesting to confirm that iSwitcherAE for 1.1.3 works properly with SummerBoard 3.1-1. I already relocated the SummerBoard themes folder so it should be just fine. Maybe today once I return form my trip I'll give it a try... maybe...Last edited by CyberGreg; 02-01-2008 at 05:15 AM.

Thanks for posting, before I restored my phone I too installed SummerBoard 3.1-1 and it worked just fine with iSwitcherAE.

I've also got iSwitcherAE (v2.74.1) working properly on the Dev Team's jail break. I'm going to restore my phone once more to perform a second confirmation.
It's probably a moot point now that SummerBoard is out. Most people prefer to use SummerBoard, which is fine...
I'll put up a write up on the iSwitcher site, but the newest change I've added is to toggle off changing the lock background. The reason for this is I have a few favorite lock backgrounds that I use and it's been a pain to always have to reset that after switching themes.
Update: Check the first post, v2.74.1 is now 1.1.3 compliant regardless of jail break method.

Which jb are you two using?
"Copying data to system image........" I love the offical jb its so thorough...just hope it works this time
It may be posted somewhere but i would assume i need your other source to get the themesLast edited by ripped53; 02-02-2008 at 06:50 PM.

actually, THIS SITE has some awesome tips on installing the "official" jail break. I've got it down to about 10 minutes or so (I have the dmg file so I upload it to /var/root/Media on my 1.1.2 phone).
All the theme paks are on the regular source.White 3G

greg.....everything seems to be working perfectly even when incorporating summerboard. There is one problem though. I can not change my lock screen wallpaper. I have tried all of the restores. My springboard wallpaper changes just fine when changing both summer board or iswitcher themes. The lock screen wall paper is locked to either the default world picture or the iswitcher theme wallpaper. Do you have any ideas?

YES, that happened to me once when I restored using the Dev Team's 1.1.3 jb method. It is clearly a permissions problem but I did not look for an answer because the next time I restored, using 1.1.3-3 (Dev Team) I did not have that problem. I think I saw a post on MMi about this.. I'll look around.

Thanks

UPDATE: This Lock Background is now a CONFIRMED issue with iSwitcherAE. The Lock background file is owned by user "root", as such user "mobile" can't change it, in other words once iSwitcherAE installs the Lock Background file, the Settings app can not change it.
Hang tight... I'm on it!
A quick and dirty resolution is to simply delete the ~/Library/LockBackground.jpg file with Terminal or Finder. This is not how I will fix the problem mind you, just a quick fix.
Thanks for bringing it to my attention.
Greg
Edit: I've updated the first post and released v2.74.2 which fixes the wall paper issue.Last edited by CyberGreg; 02-03-2008 at 01:26 PM.

yea i noticed this wallpaper issue too. had the protect transformer wallpaper stuck. but even after restored or uninstalled iswitcher, i couldn't change my lock wallpaper from the stock planet earth background.
i just went back and installed iswitcher and put my own lock background file in the theme i wanted. for now it does the job.

you are all over it...thanks for the speedy fix...unfortunately I'm not sure whats going on with installer, can't get it to refresh....so I'll have to wait to test it out.....
.......................
Got it to update.....but pic is still locked. What needs to be done to restore things to normal?
......................
Never mind ....used finder to find the pic like you described and deleted it...all seems to be well
ThanksLast edited by ripped53; 02-03-2008 at 03:06 PM.

Yes, sorry... you'd have to install the new version and then have iSwitcherAE install a new lock background to reset the permissions properly.
Side note: the new Installer seems to be causing lots of anomalies (sorry just watched a couple episodes of Voyager
)
