transfer mail via ssh?

anybody know where mail is stored? I'd like to download my yahoo mail and put it into outlook, or maybe gmail
I tried Ypops and freePops but they dont seem to be working anymore, so I thought maybe I could use my ipod, since the msgs are right there
or maybe somehow tricking yahoo into thinking my computer is an iphone?
anyways, I figured easiest would be to ssh my mail files..but idk where they'd be..or if they're in a format readable by outlook
