'new mail' notify sound only works once...

I changed the ''new mail' notify sound, and it works great, once or maybe twice, before I have to turn off the phone or re-boot it to make it active again.

Anyone know what this problem is?
Is it similar to the 'SMS notify' sound problem?

Get used to it, the notification system on the iPhone sux.

This is the #1 complaint, after initial beep there are no more reminders except text message on screen and you only see that if you turn on Iphone. There are scripts out that monitor status of unread messages and alert user at incremental stages.
