Was going to try and reinstall original firmware from itunes, but I can't even do that.

--Yes pretty much. Chances are you can save it, if you can enter DFU mode.

If that is what you see than you are not in DFU mode. DFU mode the screen should be black. It can be tricky sometimes to get it right.

Lol that's the custom restore logo from pawning it, you have that instead of the cable plugging into iTunes logo. It means you are now in either recovery or DFU mode. Option click restore and select the original firmware package to restore the phone.

I'm in the hackint0sh IRC chat and they suggested I try restoring from my PC instead of my Mac so I'm giving that a shot now....

tried from the PC and still...

ur not putting it in dfu mode
the website i gave u follow there instruction when ull get the phone into dfu mode then u will not get that steve jobs cartoon .when the phone will be in dfu mode it will have a black screeen and itunes will say u to restore it

No, it won't. My iPhone is jailbroken. I already put it in DFU mode. And I'm getting that error.

I CAN'T restore to the firmware, I can't restore any firmware! I get the 1064 error!

ok when u get 1064 error just launch any jailbreak software and press boot in normal mode hope this helps after that iphone will boot in normal mode

There is no 'boot in normal mode' I have the new iPhone 3g, and I used the pwnage tool.
