The SpringBoard is what you see when you "slide to unlock"; all the apps and the dock etc. (the first screen you see after unlocking the pad)
Launcher is an app that has shortcuts to all the apps that can't fit on that page of the SpringBoard.
SummerBoard is an app that lets you customize the SpringBoard with different themes, and extends the SpringBoard, making Launcher obsolete.
