Customize/Signal Question

i may be losing my mind...i don't know. i have noticed something the last day or so. my phone's signal strength will be down to one bar, i launch customize, and suddenly it jumps up to at least three bars. this has happened multiple times. i don't know enough to know if customize can affect signal strength or not...is it just coincidence?

anyone else experience anything like this?
is it even possible?

I cant imagine why customize would effect signal strength, I would guess coincidence...
