I was looking for a chat client that will keep me online when I open up another app or do something other than Chat.

I use MobileChat and it seems to sign me off after about 5 mins. of not using it.

fring works for me but i only use some time but it does seem to stay online. and there is an app i think its called johntool that will stop phone from timming out the internet connection, but that will beat your battery up a little.

Whats the name of the Fring App.?
I don't seem to have in my Installer.

Also sullyvan I tried installing Insomnia and it doesn't seem to keep me online when I use mobile chat.

Fring is by far the best AIM application yet. You can get the source information from here. iphone installation process

This app will definitely fit your needs until Friday when they launch the app store. I dont use JohnTool or Insomnia to keep the connection active and fring stays connected all day long without it. The app is simple, but sometimes simple is better. Hope that helps.
