Regarding the AppStore
When the AppStore is released, will it only work with the new firmware, or current firmwares too? I have an iPod touch 1.1.4 and found the AppStore download here: ModMyI.com - iPhone | iPod Touch forums, news, apps, themes. - Downloads - AppStore.app. So if I drag it into my Applications directory and the AppStore is already working (pretend it's July 11 or something), will it work, or will it only work with fw 2.0?

I imagine it will only work with 2.0 firmware as the apps will have to be installed in var/mobile/library (or equivalent) which apple dosent let you access with current unjailbroken firmwares

I have one more question: When the AppStore is released, will users with jailbroken iPods/iPhones be able to run free Apps from the AppStore if they're "ported" for lack of a better word to Installer?
For example, if I have an iPod with 1.1.4 and an iPhone with 2.0 and the AppStore (which I jailbreak and SSH into) and copy a free app I got from the AppStore, could I then copy that to my iPod and have it work? It should work right since the apps would be just like any other official apps (ie: YouTube, MobileMail, Stocks, etc).

No, not unless the DRM is cracked. Apple said at WWDC that all apps would be fairplay encoded which is updated constantly and is hard to find a new crack for. It isnt going to be easy sadly

And remember not every app from the AppStore will cost money, what was it, about 71% being free?
I came, I saw, I forgot what the hell I was there for.

Yep, 71% of apps will be free. It was supposed to be 72% until the creators of Bob's Magic Crap decided their game was too good to give away for free. Sucks.
