Weather icon won't change

Hello, any one know how the icon link work when the theme is changed in summerboard? My weather icon is stuck with the stock icon but every thing else works. Everything was working fine until I took out my sim card. Any help would be great. I have tried other themes with no luck. Thanks

Hi,

I'm on 1.1.2 and I have the same problem. I'm backup (WinSCP) all my summerboard themes before upgrading to 1.1.1 and I reinstall them after the 1.1.2 upgrade. But the weather icon don't change.

Yes I take care that Weather.png is correctly writing. But no way to change to any selected SummerBoard theme.

is really strange before the update all the icons changed perfectly but now all change except the weather icon.

Can anyone here help please?

This happens because the new 1.1.2 firmware uses the icon from the Springboard default and not the one from the weather.app.

Heres i guide i made up myself to help you guys out on this problem.

1. SSH your iphone and go to /Application/Weather.app/
2. copy Info.plist to your desktop
3. go to this link Binary to XML converter
4. Click browes on their website and locate your info.plist
5. Click convert and save your file
6. Open the converted info.plist in notepad
7. locate and delete SBIconClass SBWeatherApplicationIcon
8. paste back the info.plist in your /Application/Weather.app/ folder

Optional:
9. you can delete the other icon that is in /system/library/coreservices/springboard.app/, the file name is SBWeatherCelsius.png

Your all good, now your icon will change along with the summerboard themes.

If i was able to help you, im really deperate for "thanks" just hit the thanks botton.
thanks!!!

Thanks it works perfectly. Do you know why I don't need to change the file back to a binary before placing it back? Thanks.

Wow, so much hassle just for one measly icon...!? But thanks, man...I guess I'll try it...

Before I do though -- what if I want to go back to the original...?! I mean, SummerBoard themes are fun and all, but there's always new ones around and in the end eventually one might want to have the default back...!?

because apple can still read it in this format and if you needed to change it back or do additional modification, you wont have to go through all the hasle of converting the file again.

You can use Erica's utilities to convert or edit directly on the phone, or use plutil.pl (http://scw.us) to convert if you have Perl.

umm... I deleted the SBIconClass SBWeatherApplicationIcon words and saved the file then pasted back into weather app. Now I don't have any icon! and I also deleted my backup info.plist so if anyone can direct me to that file or just upload the modified one for me that would be great.

I didn't touch the _ or the ] symbols. Am I supposed to?

help anyone? same thing here... went through the .plist modification and removed the pertinent area, rebooted and the icon hadn't changed... next deleted the celcius icon as specified. now, no icon whatsoever for the Weather.app, its a blank spot on the springboard...

?

running 1.1.2 over here, any help would be great..!

well, i do know about that workaround but was trying to avoid using it this time around... last time i did that the icon did finally start changing, but since i am in Thailand i lost the proper number formatting after changing region to United States, and installing and running iWorld again seems to have no effect. is there no other way to get the Weather icon to just change..?

well, found a way to correct the invisible weather icon w/out resorting to converting back to United States region (as reusing iWorld to get back to Thailand standard didn't work for me in the past as detailed above)... i just recreated the SBWeatherCelsius.png icon w/in Springboard.app and changed it to the icon i wanted. not a perfect solution since if i want to change themes in the future i will have to do again, but better than having a hole in the springboard...

shrug..
