Dock has been known to mess stuff up...

I still use it because I can always get my phone to work again, but I want to use Categories, so I may uninstall it soon.

has anyone else had the flashing black and white bars or flashing other images after reboot/during startup?
I have had the flashing black/white bars too. As well as the main non-working touch screen problem that is of concern. In fact, my touch screen problem began right after I powered on the screen (following some changes made in Theme Builder) and the black/white flashing bars would not stop. The phone never booted up. I had to do a hard reset, and this is when the touch screen problem began. My battery is fully charged, so that is not it. I have done hard resets, turning it on and off, plugging it in repeatedly with no success.

I will say this, I had the black/white flashing bars when I had 1.11 installed but it never caused any major problems. I now have 1.14 and its a disaster.

Just keep try to turn it on and off.

On another note, are we all in agreement that it must be the Dock app that causes this?

I want to use Categories, but have no idea whether or not it's safe when Dock is not present. Help?

Hey guys.

I have just recently had this problem. I'm running 1.1.4 JB and I don't have Dock OR Categories installed. I freaked out after a couple of restarts (both sleep and Hard restarts) because I have had this problem before, and it usually fixed itself after a couple of restarts. This time, it didn't fix itself at all.

Finally, I took it out of my dock and UN- plugged it. I did a hard restart and now it's working fine.

One thing I'd like to mention; I did have Intelliscreen installed, so this might have caused some issues.

I'm just glad because my iPod Touch is working fine w/out a Restore.

i don't know your actually situation guys but look i got the same problem exactly the same with the white bars etc etc etc.. look, what i did was just restart it and try, if it was frozen, i restarted again, and so on, when i was in the 4th restart it worked.. so the first thing i did was going to uninstal Dock that was the lastest **** i install.. And now my iphone seems to be perfect. So please guys don't install that Dock ****.

hey ALL DAY let me tell you this.. I had the problem exactly after install Dock.. so DOCK is the problem!! unistall Dock!! That worked for me.. I tried what you said the restart a lot of times and when it worked i unistalled dock and now everything is fine.. even the bars are gone..

It is for sure the Dock app that does it. My iphone had same symptoms described above, including touch screen not working in any apps or settings and the white and black bars. Because of this I was not able to get into installer to delete Dock app. And the resets did not work, neither did they work with it plugged in. I removed Dock app through FTP and everything is back to normal and I can breathe again.

Using FTP go to:
root/usr/local/bin/
and manually delete the dock folder.

Because you cannot use the settings menu when this problem happens you are going to have to look up your iphone's ip through your router.

For instructions on how to ftp into your iphone, download WinSCP and google the instructions, login=root password=alpine.

Having done all that, reset and your iphone should be back to new.

Thanks to everyone above who pinpointed the problem

^LOL. Old thread is old. I used to post in here, I believe back in the 1.1.3/4 days.

Epic first post by you, though. You should upgrade to 2.2 and see what you;re missing.
