How did you update to 2.2? If you used iTunes, or Apple's orig 2.2 to build your custom ipsw, your baseband was prob updated too & that is more then likely your problem. I used Tattoojack's(no baseband change, activated, no custom logos, for T-MO USA) custom 2.2 on my 3g 16g & was able to change my sms tones just fine after. When you put the files in the folder does it ask you if you want to "overwrite" the original file? You should be able to just reboot your phone after that & the file be changed & working... Good luck.

Anyway, wish there was a way to find out what file to modify so the actual name shows up!!!!!
