So I don't have unlimited texting, my parents won't get it for me...

Is there an alternative way to send a lot of texts without having to actually use texts? I remember there being a way to send texts from your email, to someone else's phone number, but I don't recall if it returns the reply to the email or the phone. I also don't recall the app's name. If someone could help me out, it'd be much appreciated!


btw - my parents won't get me unlimited because I can call people instead..but recently my friends decided to text instead of call me, and it's running up my texts...
