iPhone Remote Desktop Roundup
I use a Mac as a media player so I set out looking for a way to control it with my iPhone. Specifically I watch a lot of tv shows through the VLC media player, so I wanted a way to control this. So far I have not found a robust solution that works with OSX . However I have come across a number of options that I thought might be useful to someone else. If you have any to add, or have a review please add.
WebVNC - http://cre.ations.net/creation/webvn...on-your-iphone
This is a modification to TightVNC and seems like the best remote desktop app, but is only for windows
RDM+

What looks to be another good remote desktop app that hanfels multi clicking and other advanced options well. Also appears to only work with windows.
Telekinesis

This google code project is the only Mac app that I found. It looks like it has a nice implementation, but very limited functionality.

why do you say telekenisis is limited? i don't have an iphone yet, but thought the "Screen" button on the main menu could allow you to access your computer remotely, whilst other buttons make it simpler to perform common tasks (eg control itunes)?

um ... you forgot vnsea combined with ultravnc or even cotvnc, (vnsea) which is located on the installer app. Their next version will include rubber band zooming. Controls and a status bar for ctrlaltdel, right click and to make the status bar come up transparent. And the interface is way quicker than safari. I use ultravnc for pc with my pc. Ppl use cotvnc for mac on their computer with VNsea. But there are other options to use with vnsea.

I think telekenisis is pretty amazing, and one thing that's not obvious at first is that there are expansion modules that add other functions. The Universal Remote is pretty amazing on the Mac, allowing the iPhone to simulate Apple's IR Remote, so you can control Front Row, for example.
I just discovered that they've released an Ajax version of Remote Buddy for the Mac and the iPhone or Touch that's really impressive.

Remote Buddy Rocks
This is quite possibly the least-praised/known iPhone app. The features it offers as a universal media controller are ridiculous. Full iTunes/VLC/DVD Player/etc. control, dynamically-updated Cover Art on the "Now Playing" screen, Playlist access, switching between computer speakers and AEX units, integration with EyeTV, launch Applescripts...the list goes on and on.
I even created a launcher for the iPhone's Springboard and posted it here. It's one of the main features I use with my iPhone.

PLEASE click everyone's "Thanks" buttons...they are begging for it.

This is app is nice. But I would love to be able to use this app over the internet and not just over the lan. The camera feature is nice.
has anyone tried this over edge?

That would actually be quite easy- get a dydns address from a site like dyndns.org and then forward the port that remotebuddy listens on through your firewall to the local IP of your mac. When you launch your iPhone browser, instead of typing in "http://mac.local:8888" or whatever the port and host names are, you'd type in: "http://dydnsAddressYouMade.something:8888"
That would point your browser to the Dynamic DNS address of your home IP, query port 8888 (or the port you specify in the settings of remote buddy), and forward it on to your mac, allowing you access to the web interface through your ipod touch / iphone.
