I fixed this problem, but just wanted to post it in case other folks run into it.

I recently upgraded MyWi to 5.04.3 and it seems that the statusbar icon is displayed all the time on Springboard. This is true even if there is no wifi tethering enabled, and the in-use indicator is set to "tethering bar". The icon disappears when opening most applications, but as soon as I return to the springboard, there it is again.

This only started happening after this upgrade.

The issue may have been caused by an incomplete upgrade. Cydia says I have 5.04.3 installed, but if I scroll down in the MyWi app itself, it says I'm on 5.03.2. So I rebooted the phone (rather than just doing a respring), and that seems to have cleared up the problem with the statusbar icon.

Although, I should note that MyWi still reports version 5.03.2 in the UI. So that may be a separate issue.
