Req: MyWi transferring file feature
I'm just wondering whether MyWi will expand some features like transferring files via WIFI....
When I was on iOS 4.2.1, I can use MyWi hotspot feature to transfer file to other devices without any WIFI network around or internet connection. Since to what I know iOS 4.2.1 using Ad Hoc networking. For example if I created a hotspot with the name "MY_MYWI", when I turn on my WIFI setting from general settings, I can connect to "MY_MYWI" network created by MyWi on iPhone. Therefore I can use other apps such as iFile or GoodReaders to transfer file to any device that can detect Ad Hoc network.
But on iOS 4.3.1 I cannot do this anymore, since it uses infrastructure network. When I created a WIFI hotspot, I don't get any WIFI IP, I can't connect from general settings WIFI to the hotspot created by MyWi....
Is it possible at least MyWi in the next update can add this functionality to create Ad Hoc networking like in iOS 4.2.1? Or maybe you can add this kind of features of transferring files via WIFI hotspot, so we don't have to depend on apps like CELESTE BLUETOOTH or iBluenova for transferring files. WIFI is faster.
I don't know whether it is possible to borrow iPhone 3G antenna for transferring files via WIFI without taking any 3G bandwidth (without internet connection) ... like the function of AirPort in macbook.....Last edited by g_sofian; 04-05-2011 at 11:50 PM. Reason: Automerged Doublepost

Why don't you think you have a WiFi IP? The phone will be (by default) 192.168.21.1. The client will say this ip in the gateway settings. Should work even faster now! (before was 802.11b, now 802.11n /2 - so before 11mbps, now 65mbps) Enjoy!

When we get the default WIFI IP, can I transfer files using iFile's features Web Server....since the iPhone does not connect to any WIFI network when I created WIFI hotspot....(without internet connection)
I would like to use my iPhone as a hotspot and client at the same time, is it possible to do that? When on iOS 4.2.1 this is possible through Ad Hoc connection. I bridged WIFI hotspot to 3G (but I turn off the data/3G connection), then I turn on my WIFI and detect the hotspot, therefore I can use
iFile Wifi Transfer File to transfer to other devices if there is no WIFI network aroundLast edited by g_sofian; 04-06-2011 at 02:27 AM.

Please add ad-hoc networking back to MY-WI give us a choice.
I also hope that Intelliborn adds the ability to create ad-hoc networks back to MYWI. I was using it until last night when i upgraded and found that it no longer works in the same manner. Please let the user select what type of network he/she needs/wants. Thanks
