Why not use My3G for all apps, all the time?

Hi folks!
Apart from data usage, are there any reasons to not use My3G for all apps all the time?

I understand that if you're on a very limited data plan then you want to be picky about what apps get "wifi". But if you're on an unlimited plan (I would never be able to use my monthly 3 GB), then I see no reason to not use it for everything. Comments?

Wifi is much faster than 3G.....

Ah so if you turn this on, then the iPhone will use 3G even when the home wifi is available? That's a point to remember of course!

But while being "on the road", why limit the 3G "wifi" to certain apps only? Is this only because the owner's data plan is limited, or are there other considerations? Performance issues?

3G has been reported to be a battery hog. Not clear if 3G uses more (or less) than WiFi. That being said, WiFi is usually more reliable because it's not effected by the airwave interference.
