Is there a free way to convert Blu-ray to iPhone/iPod format?

ive been able to convert mkv media into mp4.... mkv high definition as blu ray... when converted into mp4...the high definition is still there...so dont see any difference. It's just the iphone OS doesnt support mkv media atm or does it?

Yes, but if you all want to save the trouble, just let me know what you want, and chances are I already have it available for iPad, iPad 2, and iPhone 4. I have spent the last year ripping my own stuff to play on iDevices. Depending on what you are looking for, then we will just work out a small dontation

I've had some good luck with DVDfab. Not sure if it runs under a Mac, but runs good under Windows.
