Music from External HD to my new Mac
I dont know if this is the right place to post this.
I have an external harddrive that i have all of my music stored on and I normally use a pc. But i have recently decided to buy a mac and was wondering what would be the easiest way to put the music on my mac. I dont know if i can just plug the harddrive in and go or what.
Any help would be appreciated.
Agian sorry if this is the wrong thread to post in.

just plug the hard drive in and then open iTunes/click file/Add to library/select your hard drive.
It will take a while, Depending on how big your music library is. mine took 6 hours to complete...58,000+ songs

thanx man. i thot that you could only use certain hardrives for each type of comp. to write to the hardrive i have to refomat it to so it can be used on the mac. i was wondering if there was a way to make it so the hard drive can be used with both my mac and pc?

you should just have to plug it in and transfer them over as stated before.

sometimes there is software installed on the drives that is compiled for a certain os which at that point you have to format it for your system
there have been alot of problems like this when using ipods in disk mode and trying to crossover between windows and mac

Wow,
Nice collection.
Regarding a question similar to the original poster, I hooked up my hard drive that had flac encoded songs and I thought I had it set to change into apple lossless, however, it converted the music to crappy mp3 in Itunes.
Is there an easy way to convert the mp3 music in Itunes to apple lossless without reloading?
Thanks in advance.
Paul
