How to Jailbreak your iDevice

It's difficult to figure out how to jailbreak your device sometimes. There's currently TWELVE devices that have been released running iOS, and there's hundreds of firmware, carrier, and operating system combinations running around that have resulted in a hundred guides on every site on how to jailbreak your iDevice. It's confusing.

We spent the last few weeks building a database of devices, carriers, firmwares, and jailbreak tools so we could build a clean, all-in-one-place tool which will allow to you find the correct guide for YOU to jailbreak YOUR iDevice.

modmyi.com/jailbreak is our new jailbreak assistant. Simply click your iDevice, and follow the few prompts to let us know a little more about your device. We'll then give you a link to the correct guide you need!

This should be the answer to a TON of people's questions on what they need to do - and an easy place to send your friends or use when you're trying to jailbreak a friend's device. We've also updated the top "I want to jailbreak my..." links to point to that tool (yah, they've been out of date for a while).

We'll be keeping the jailbreak assistant up to date with every new firmware and jailbreak tool, so you can count on it to always have correct, up to the minute information.

NOTE: The jailbreak assistant currently supports jailbreak only (no unlock), iOS 4+, and all iDevices except Apple TVs. We'll be adding support for Apple TV next week or sooner, and support for unlock in the next few weeks. It's just being released now, so there may be small bugs - please let us know so we can address them quickly!

I am really impressed with this. Although for iOS 4.3.3 I recommend JailbreakMe.com and for iOS 4.1 I recommend Limera1n.

I agree about limera1n but jailbreakme.com has been purchased buy someone not involved with the jailbreak community and modmyi has warned us in a post about a month ago.

Anthony - according to our conversations with comex, jailbreakme is not fully supported for devices other than the iPad 2 on 4.3.3 (which we do include as the guide for that combination). Also a big thanks to Joshua Tucker and Simon for their help putting this together.

Hello, nice guide. The iPhone 2g does not support 4.0. 3.1.3 is the highest firmware. Whited00r is a great alternative if your looking for ios4 features in iphone os 3.1.3.

I believe Saurik got it back the very next day if my memory serves correct. So it is safe to use.

This is not true. The new owner sold the site to Saurik so it is 100% safe now.

As for limera1n, I'd never recommend that software to anyone as I had nothing but problems with it & personally always gravitate toward redsn0w or PwnageTool thanks to their stability.

Of course that's just my preference.

This is very nice and easy place for people to go. Love it.BTW that's correct roro. Jailbreakme is owned by Saurik (also in a post on modmyi).

Nice!! Shoulda been like this from the start! Redsn0w has always been the better choice to jailbreak for me.

Jailbreakme is good but doesn't enable animated bootlogos so not a good choice if you want it. The fix that's available in Cydia isn't as good as getting it enabled @ jailbreak
