Today, Apple released two new models of their ulta-portable laptop with a 13.3in display (also with a new high resolution of 1440x900) and one with a 11.6 display (1366x768). While Steve Jobs said that the 13.3in MBP had a higher res than the 15 MBP, that is not the case and they are both 1440x900 native resolution.
These new laptops are even thinner than before, with almost twice the battery life of the previous model and a 30 day standby time. The price has also fallen quite a bit, with the new base price of the 11.6in at $1000 with 64GB flash storage and a 1.4 GHZ core 2 due processor. The new base price for the 13.3in is $1,300 and it also includes a slightly faster processor at 1.87 GHZ and 128GB storage.
There is still no self-upgradeable RAM (all models have 2GB but can be upgraded to 4GB when purchasing) and Apple also moved to a solely flash memory based storage system. This means that there are now no moving parts that you have to worry about.
A new technology that Apple also implemented into the new Macbook Air is called "Instant on", making the boot time almost non-excistent. We are still unsure of exactly how fast the boot and load times with be until some reviews are published (count on tomorrow or the next day for preliminary reviews)
The new MBA is available from Apple starting today.

$1600 for the better 13" mba is still a lil' pricey. For those looking into iPads, the 11 incher seems a better buy. Too bad they didn't add the SD slot on the 11" and backlit keys. Would've been better than the entry level mbp. Decisions, Decisions.
