Yes, use the latest redsnow 0.9.10 b5. Very easy

What is involved? Because I used green poison for my 2gen iPod.

I guess you are referring to iPod touch 4th Gen with ios 5.1.1 preinstalled?
If that is correct, you could use Absinthe for untethered jailbreak.
It's really fast and really cool. I did that just a few minutes ago to jailbreak my iPod, with the exact model and firmware as yours, after restoring,since it's a bit over-stuffed and has been running a bit slow.
One click, and a few seconds later the job would be done.
