Warning: iPhone users on T-Mobile! $2 per MB data if you don't have a Data Plan!
I've been a T-Mobile customer for 10 years, and using iPhones for at least the last 3 years.
Just recently, T-Mobile decided to activate a "Pay-Per-Use" data access feature on 3 of my 5 t-mobile lines (my wife, and both kids'). OH, and it sounds like they did it for EVERY iPHONE USER who didn't have a data plan associated with their line! Without telling anyone about it!
In just 2 weeks, they were already trying to stab me with an extra $150 in data usage. You won't believe the crap they were trying to tell me. I even recorded the calls:
Index of /tmobile
They even tried telling me they wanted to either prevent me from using my own WiFi, or they were going to charge me to access it! LOL.
These people are Insane!! You'll TRIP OUT when you listen to the 2 recordings I made.
Thanks, I hope you can help someone out before they get an additional $300+ stabbed to their next bill!
Good Luck!

Glad you caught it early. I think it's bunk that they're trying to "force" everyone to get on a data plan for every iphone they have. I'm sorry, but young teenagers IMO shouldn't have full internet on their smart devices! ;-)

Wow, can you imagine how many other Thousands, or possibly Tens of Thousands of young teenagers, who's parents also opted to not to give them DataPlans, just got "turned on". Many of which may just not say anything! I'm so glad T-Mobile is trying to make bad parents out of us! Somebody in their management needs to have their head slapped around backwards!

I hate Tmobile bunch of scam artist, that's why I left and never going back. I called to cancel my service completely and they continued to charge me the following month.

I have Tmobile unlimited voice\messages\data on my prepaid phone for just 2 dollars a day. So about 60$ a month. I love it!

@ewillden
Hi there. I made a thread on Howard forums (Lines automatically placed on "Pay Per Megabyte" data plan). I was wondering if I could use your recordings because it shows how ludicrous T-mobile is being by enabling this feature without customer consent. I feel that the forum will reach a larger audience since it's dedicated to T-mobile service.
Verizon did something similar several years ago where flip phones back then had a dedicated button that, upon being pressed, will access data and the customer would be charged $1.99 PER press; this is a problem because customers would accidentally hit this dedicated button when trying to end a call for example, or when mis-dialing, etc.
Anyway, Verizon got in trouble with the FCC because of this as indicated by many articles (Verizon Wireless to Pay Back Customers for Accidental Data Fees - ABC News being one of them) so I expect the same will happen to T-mobile.
you probably are already aware but T-mobile did a system wide sweep where all lines WITHOUT a data plan will be AUTOMATICALLY placed on the "Pay per megabyte" data plan. It's my understanding that Melinda (the last lady you spoke with) said it's targeting simply iPhones but that's not the case; T-mobile is targeting ALL phones (smartphones and dumbphones) without a data plan. So... obviously, everyone you spoke with is aware of this system sweep and are simply playing dumb. At 6:15 from your 2nd clip, the T-mobile rep admits adding that the T-mobile automated system added this feature without authorization so there's at least one honest guy.
And proof of this system wide sweep: http://www.tmonews.com/2011/08/t-mob...eptember-15th/Last edited by nexus14; 11-10-2011 at 10:01 PM.
