check to see if you have your shsh's saved with this The Firmware Umbrella - TinyUmbrella
shsh's are what you need to downgrade, without them you cannot do so. Just open tinyumbrella plug the iphone in and then click save my shsh

why not just downgrade to 3.1.3? that way you just need the firmware file and thats it.

You do NOT need to downgrade to jail break.
1. What baseband do you have. I am guessing 5.14 or 5.15
If this is the fact, you need snowbreeze from ih8sn0w
You can upgrade, or stay the same, and jail break.
If you use the search pane top right and enter your search, there are about 30 threads thatexplain exactly how to do everything you need. Also, goto the main page, and select modify iphone
Just know that you are not the only one out there with this problem. We are willing to help you, but search and google will be your guide.
