The above tweet from MuscleNerd to ipodguy79 stipulates that Geohot may have an untethered jailbreak in the works. But it may only be for the latest devices with the A4 processor (iphone4, ipod touch 4, aTV)

Ya PB does that from time to time. No disrespect to musclenerd cause he is great, but PB is a genius with these things. Right up there with geohot IMO. PB and MN worked on the first i4 unlock together so I am sure that saved loads of time.
