Got the same email. Getting closer to an update folks!
But a reminder folks:
I wouldn't update officially when this update is released. Wait for the official words from the Dev Team.
This also does not change the fact that the DEv Team is still not ready for a release. It may take a few weeks before everything is packaged and ready to be used.Last edited by Melech518; 07-14-2010 at 04:36 PM.

Sweet but I hope apple is actually right and this actually fixes the death grip signal drop (Evan though I'm almost convinced it's hardware). Plus I am dying to start checking cydia every couple of hours on my iPhone 4. I carry my iPhone 3GS around just to check cydia!

This isn't a beta iPhone firmware guys. It's the sdk. Software developers kit. It's used by developers to create stuff for the iOS.
Just means the actual update should be soon. But as said. Don't rush to update just in case the bugs used to make the JB were patched.
And since the death grip has been labeled a baseband issue by apple. Expect there to perhaps be a baseband update.
EDIT:
I stand corrected. Both the sdk and beta ios are out.
Same warning though. Steer clear for now.Last edited by PhoneLine; 07-14-2010 at 03:40 PM. Reason: Automerged Doublepost

The new iOS 4.1 beta that was just released today to developers appears to include the signal bar changes that Apple had previously described:
To address the issue, Apple will be issuing a software update "within a few weeks" that will adjust how signal strength bars are calculated and displayed. The change will adopt a recently recommended formula from AT&T that will more accurately display actual signal strength at any given time. The update will also increase the size of the smaller bars (1, 2, and 3) to make them easier to see.
The new signal bars appear slightly taller than the previous ones, and presumably Apple's calculations regarding signal strength has been revised. No word on if people are having any actual signal improvements beyond the cosmetic changes.
