Software flaw or new feature?

We all know now that to zoom on the new iPhone 4, it says to tap the screen with 3 fingers then hold them and move zooming the screen. But what I did on accident was tap the lock screen with 3 fingers and it zoomed by itself making the bar at the top with the time, carrier, battery, etc. All disappear. Same thing with the home screen, it will zoom making things unviewable. How to fix it? tap it again with 3 fingers.

Its not new. I accidentally did this on my 3GS. Its a feature for people with bad eyesight.
