I am going to have to run Gparted Live on my machine. Hopefully since it works with Vista it will run on 7.

Ok i got it to work. I was using vista which its supposed to work on but failed twice so i restored again for the third time and used my netbook which runs windows XP and it all went smoothly so yay. Good luck every 0ne!

guys - which apps work and dont work that u tried?

we need some kind of thread w/ compatible ones. winterboard doesnt work dont even try it.

ok, so this doesn't work with unactivated phones... itunes will say it's in recovery mode and you have to restore again. someone has to patch lockdownd before trying this or find someone with att and borrow their sim to actiave.

Well, there's a quote on the first post stating that it will not run on W7 from geo himself. I'd reccomend doing what I am doing, or what others are doing & just run it on a PC with Vista/XP.

XP SP3 32-bit english, iTunes 8.2.

tried with iPhone in recovery mode and not, with iTunes opened or closed.

generates log file, but the file is empty.

any help?

Im not trying to make you sound dumb or anything i promise but have you tried deleting and redownloading purpra1n?

Of course it does but i think you still might need a at&t sim card to get past the "plus into itunes" screen. It purpra1n doesn't work like redsn0w.

Ok, so I'm on XP 32bit, purplera1n runs fine, goes through the whole process and then says "done. wait for reboot".

The problem is that <b>the reboot never comes</b>. This is my second attempt. I'm on stock 3.0 that came with the phone. Anybody have any ideas?

EDIT:
It worked! I'm not sure if it was just b/c I tried a 3rd time, but on my last attempt I made sure the iPhone screen was not on (the phone was on, just in standby) and this time it worked like a charm! Only took maybe 3 minutes from the time I clicked Make it rain. It certainly did make it rain!

In Dev Team's video, planetbeing just installs redsn0w on a jailbroken 3GS and works fine for him so I see no reason why it will not work now.

Why doesn't winterboard work, that's the main "reason" people were moaning about??
