As you might know, a battery percentage was found as an option on non jailbroken iPhones by developers on beta versions of the new iPhone OS 3.0 . But when the OS was officially released, there was nowhere to be found. The mystery was soon unveiled and the much wanted battery percentage is only available on the new iPhone 3Gs.

There wasnt a way for iPhone 3G users to have that , untill now. Unfortunately this methods i am about to tell you about are only available to jailbroken devices. So if you are not part of the jailbreaking community, this is your chance. You are missing a lot.




This tweak is availabe via Cydia. First thing you need to do is to add this repo: http://apt.iphone-storage.de/ . Than go to Changes or Search and look for “asBattery” . This was tested with iPhone 3G ONLY, so 2G users you are alone here. Install the tweak and reboot your phone after install. Than go to Settings – General – Usage to activate it.

Call me crazy, but my iPhone 3G has shown the percentage of battery left since I updated it to 3.0. I can't turn it off, as I can with my 3GS. I have yet to jailbreak my 3G since updating to 3.0, but the percentage battery is always there.

Hey thank you Erny, for telling me how to turn on the battery percentage on in iPhone 3G. I thought Apple would provide it in it's officially released version. But Cydia did it.

Well, what a twist...I restored to 3.0 and used redsn0w to jailbreak and ultrans0w to unlock for use with T-Mobile, and now I don't have the battery percentage. Ha! I guess I'll use the tweak, good find, bro!

I need help I accidentally download on my iPhone 3g on firmware 3.0 a mms for the 2g and now it wont boot back up, because I was trying to get the phone to receive picture texting but now I am stuck with it still trying to booth. Can someone please help me?
