Man stabbed resisting theft of iPhone
Would you take a knife for your iPhone?

An attempted robbery has left a Toronto man in hospital with a stab wound after four suspects tried to steal his iPhone.
Police were called to Scarborough Town Centre today around 7 p.m., where they found a man with a minor stab wound in the abdominal area.
Witnesses say four male suspects tried to steal the victim’s iPhone, and when he resisted one of them stabbed the victim with a knife he had hidden in his coat.
The victim is in stable condition.
Anyone with information is asked to call Toronto police at 416-808-4300 or Crime Stoppers at 416-222-TIPS (8477).

that's wild my old boss got robbed for his iPhone twice. Both times going home from work watching movies on it 3 am on the train in the Bronx. 1st time they just roughed him up 2nd time he was in the hospital a few days.
I have a old 2g iPhone that's pretty beaten up but I'm still not giving it up. Maybe if they have a gun but not a knife. Dude tried to rob me with a knife before I knocked it out his hand and damn near beat him to death. I just blacked out. Yeah material things can be replaced but with me it's the principle and I work too damn hard to get the things I have and I be damned if I let somebody just take it.

Glad to see his iPhone is still next to him (athough as it's face down on the tarmac I'd imagine he's not the only one a bit roughed up). Here's wishing a speedy recovery to them both.
But why's the photo dated 10th May '08?

There is the original article, although that picture isn't on it, so I am not exactly sure where it came from!?------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

If someone pulled a knife on me, they better kill me because I would rather be dead than be without my iphone.

I thought this strangely acting guy was getting ready to rob me of my laptop and my 2G iPhone the other day because it's a long story but everything he was doing was seeming like he was going to attempt to hit me with a police riot stick and take my stuff and I was getting ready to pull a knife out of my pocket and slit his throat if he even tried, I really was getting nervous but I'm not letting anyone in that situation take $2,000 from me when I couldn't do anything except give a description of him and I know I wouldn't be compensated for my laptop or phone when they can't find the guy. It sucks it has to be that way but when someone with no money sees you flaunting a $400 phone or something of the like around he's going to be tempted to steal it if he wants it. It's going to happen a lot and it has happened A LOT.

sziklassy:
Where were you on the night in question...according to your sig your a suspect...
But seriously
See thats whats wrong with society. We have good people, bad people, and then low lifes who think that they can take someones life over money. Were they drugged out and needed a fix and could sell this phone, perhaps... were they desperate in this economy for the money, who knows. Deranged lunatic? No one will know. Its unfortunate things like this go on yet people could be in a far off worse place than what they have or think they don't have.

Wow, weighing the repercussions of ones actions can put things into perspective. To obtain a device that is worth $300 on craigslist, these people were willing to stab someone and risk possible jail time? Thats the worst idea since aids. Then again, perhaps these fools were jonesin' and needed a fix. I give the victim props though. He exerted testicular fortitude in retaining control of his device! Viva La Iphone Revolucion!
