How did you change the plist? I assume you installed Cydia and then SSh - ssh'd to it and changed it? Be good to clarify, many thanks!

    - Just tried, pwned phone, modded plist, backedup - restored to non pwned firmware, restored backup and emoji is still there - works great, thanks for the tip!

    in root system file/User/Library/Preferences/com.apple.Preferences.plist .
    with the new one which
    u can download from
MEGAUPLOAD - The leading online storage and file delivery service

    DiskAid FAQ

    Using DiskAid
Why I don't have an access to the Root Folder of my iPhone or iPod Touch ? Only the "Media Folder" is available.

To access to the entire filesystem of you device, you need a jailbroken device. If not, only the "media folder" is available.

My iPhone is jailbroken with ZiPhone but DiskAid only lets me access the "Media Folder".

Go to "Installer" on your iPhone and add the following source : "http//i.unlock.no".

Refresh sources and click the "Install" button in "Installer".

Scroll to "unlocking tools", download and install the "Ziphone iBrickr Fix".

Restart DiskAid and that's it !

Robertccl, I downloaded and installed DIskAid to check it out, after reading your post. I was VERY surprised to think that DiskAid would allow me to see the directories needed to access the plist in question. Turns out, it doesn't. I am only able to see the typical media folders, I am unable to have full & unfettered access to the entire directory structure.

To sum up, on my non-jailbroken phone, DiskAid does not allow me to access the directory path /User/Library/Preferences/com.apple.Preferences.plist . Perhaps you might be able to if the phone is jailbroken.. but I'm unable to test that easily (I want to keep my phone legit for the moment).

    Thanks for your suggestions nonetheless.

Dabbler, I installed Cydia and OpenSSH. I used Fugu (a free graphical UI driven SSH client with scp for OS X) to retrieve the plist, then I edited it to read a TRUE value, and then sent it back to the phone overwriting the original. I rebooted the phone and voila, emoji was enabled. Since this is a preference file, I was able to back up to iTunes, remove all traces of jailbreaking, and restore from iTunes and I still have my emoji and a legit phone.

This has to be a problem with one of the provider.
I've already sent emojis between two providers in Germany without a problem.

They can also be send in email, instant Messaging or even posted on websites.

    Just to clear things out:
There are no images attached to the message.
The emojis are just an special Unicode Character in the text.
So if they get broken from one provider to another,
there seems to be a problem with unicode-table on one side.

If that were the case, then wouldnt on one network it wouldnt work at all?
    tmobiles can emoji tmobile iphones
and at&t can emoji at&t iphone...
but they dont intermingle for some reason... that sucks. Now I cant *** smile my other guy friends on at&t! LOL
    it is annoying.

the thing that is strange is that when you send an emoji to another non-iphone they get a text code such as just an "a" or an "a@" and such.. but when trying to intermingle iphone emoji it doesnt even register a sms at all.

    Default I did this today....

You can use them combined with "Make it Mine" to put pictures in your status bar. I added the flags today...but all of the pictures work.

    Give it a try!
