2.2 Firmware Released

iPhone 2.2 Software Update
This update contains many bug fixes and improvements, including the following:
• Enhancements to Maps
- Google Street View
- public transit and walking directions
- display address of dropped pins
- share location via email
• Enhancements to Mail
- resolved isolated issues with scheduled fetching
of email
- improved formatting of wide HTML email
• Improved stability and performance of Safari
• Podcasts are now available for download in iTunes
application (over Wi-Fi and cellular network)
• Decrease in call set-up failures and call drops
• Improved sound quality of visual voicemail messages
• Pressing the Home button from any Home screen takes
you to the first Home screen
• Preference to turn on/off auto-correction in Keyboard
Settings

The jailbreak for 2.2 is on its way soon according to the dev team - they just have to test to make sure it works fine, but they're fairly sure the Pwnage method is unchanged in 2.2.

Damn i want to download it to try the new maps but i dont really want to wait a few days for the jailbreak. Agh!

I was gonna wait for jailbreaking news but screw it Im just gonna update...
Remember everyone who is jailbroken... Dont just update the phone and install,
Click Update and Download the Update only and then click Restore.

DUDE I was just tryin to figure that out... I know its in my area cause it works on regular google maps...
maybe u gotta be in directions mode..

I restored with a backup of my jailbroken iPhone that had more than half of the apps hidden and now they are still hidden lol, guess i cant use that backup

safari -> bookmarks -> iPhone user guide -> more applications -> maps -> finding and viewing -> scroll down.
