Default Problems receiving MMS on your iPhone?

    Hi All,

I recently installed swirly MMS on my iPhone 3G and saw that I was only receiving texts telling me that I received a media message and it giving me a weblink to view my media message online which I was not happy with.

I sent a simple email request to my provider (O2-UK) for MMS to be enabled on my account but obviously they knew that I have an iPhone 3G and I didn't want them to know that I have jailbroken my iPhone 3G so they sent me the following reply:-

"Thank you for your reply although I know already know that media messaging is not supported on the iPhone 3G and thats why I wanted to use my wife's old Samsung mobile to pick up any media massages that I might get, at least then I can get media messages without having to go online every time I want to see them hence the reason I was asking for you to enable MMS on my account.

    Thank you."

This was news I really didn't want so I quickly thought up a simple solution by sending them the following reply:-

    Thank you."

Low and behold the next day I got the following reply and all was sorted out:-

"Hello, Thanks for emailing us about accessing media messages on your old Samsung phone. I've enabled the MMS (Multimedia Messaging Service) on your account and you'll be able to view the MMS on your old Samsung. This service may take 24 hours to be activated on our system. I apologise for any inconvenience that may have been caused and I appreciate your patience with this matter."

If anyone has had the same kind of problems with their MMS not being enabled on their account and they don't want to raise a red flag that they have jailbroken their iPhone then this should work for you.

Just wanted to share my findings and I hope this helps anyone with the same problems.

P.S. This was all after inputting all the correct settings in swirly MMS.

Hi, I forgot to mention that I'm on O2-UK but I just found these AT&T settings from the swirlyspace website.

MMS Settings for various MMS Service provider (MMSC)

Have a look and see if you find your settings.

    Hit thanks if this helps.

I have done that with AT&T about 3-4 times. MMS gets enabled, but automatically gets disabled after 2hrs or so.

No, ATT sweeps accounts constantly to disable the MMS feature on iphones.

Even if you can get them to add what is needed.....it would soon be taken back off.
