T-Mobile G1: Biggest Failure Yet?
[ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ziCiiRIQkJ4]YouTube - HTC's T-Mobile G1 Video[/ame]
T-Mobile released a phone, that of Course, Resembles an iPhone.
It runs a google produced OS called "Android" and the phone is made by HTC. Some "Features" include a customizable home screen, is touch screen, has a full non-touch screen qwerty keyboard. Does it fail just as bad as past attempts? Lets see how everything turns out.
Here is a link to the site, with their official pages, ad's, etc.

its not a windows based phone what so ever. its a google produced OS called android and the phone is made by HTC. i feel that htc may have lowered their standards for this but this will be a strong competitor to apple due to google and their push for open standards. ill be getting one so we shall see. apple does have the better touch screen though due to multi touch sensing.

You know who will like the phone? The same people that like Linux OS.
Why? Users will be able to do whatever they want with the phone.

definitely not a fail, personally i think it looks good and Android is the future, everything stored on the net and just all synced wirelessly? perfect, and as an iphone owner i dont want it to fail.
if this does well, imagine all the cool stuff we will be getting with firmware updates

some people over at xda-developers got it running on an HTC product similiar to the Tilt. with iBooter and a linux port by cmw at iphonelinux.org, i think we may see Android on the iPhone shortly
but a google has lead me to this

If Google only encourages Java application on Android, then it
shouldn't be too hard to port the Android Java VM and the
corresponding Android SDK for java to iPhone as a few user-level
libraries and applications. It's not necessary to port the whole linux
kernel of Android to iPhone to achieve application level
compatibility. Won't it be nice to have an icon on your jailbreaked
iPhone, after clicking it, the whole iPhone UI will be switched to the
Android UI ?
I bet someone will do this once the source code of Android SDK is
released :-) It should be a fun project to work with.

judging by the sound of it, android would be emulated on the iphone, and judging by androids laggy performance already, that would not be a nice experience....
but im sure it will happen.

We have 2 things here Android the OS and the Phone itself made by HTC.
This will be like most winmo devices and end up on many different phones.
This will not fail and very well may over take alot of WinMo market share, I dont think to much of the Iphone space though.
Once someone unlocks an Android Phone I will get my hands on one but I dont want to get this first run android os based phone.

Mixed Replies.
This is good.
Conversation.

I personally think its just another iphone remake, but with a mix this time, like tmobile didn't want to kill itself with another iclone type phone. Im still pro iphone on this, but id like to play with one of these things, just to check it out.
iPhone FTW though.HAVE I HELPED YOU? Thank me!

Although the iPhone will still rule this market IMO, the Android phone seems pretty good. The actual design of the phone is meh IMO, but the platform it is running seems pretty smooth and cool, like I expected from Google. It will be nice to see this platform on better looking phones soon...

Android is gonna be the future of mobile OS...thats for sure. Although that is one ugly HTC phone... ive seen some rumors of Sony wanting to look into it for a SE edition of its upcoming Xperea X1 line of smartphones (engadget or boygenius i dont remember) or how nice would that be on the new HTC Touch HD. I love stuff like this because it puts pressure on other companies (apple/microsoft) to work hard to give us better functionality on whatever it is in our pocket. I will say that in the US T-Mobile is gotta step up its 3G for the G1/Dream to really rock (T-Mobile is far worse than ATT which is damn near horrible). Put i have a good feeling by Q2 of 09 carriers like Sprint and Verizon will have some super killer Android handsets that might make a few of us iPhoners a little jealous. Oh the money we will spend.....haha.
