2006 MacBook Battery
Hey guys, new to mac so bare with me. My buddy has a 2006 white MacBook and it just shut off. Did smc and it is fine. But when she clicks on the battery in the top corner, it says to replace immediately. It functions but apparently it doesn't hold a good charge. Up till today it holds a charge fine for hours, don't know why it suddenly says that now.
Questions are:
1) should we replace the battery or is it gonna be ok just bc it's been fine so far.
2) if we do replace the battery, should we be able to trust "replacement batteries" that aren't the original?
3) if we were to get either a replacement battery or the original, whats the best place to buy (I'm leaning towards getting an original Apple battery though so this question probably is geared towards that).

Annie I'm in the same boat. I'm on my Mac so much I need to buy a new one. This is what I'm doing. I'm just gonna buy one from Amazon from a reputable place with good reviews. I don't think there will be any "new" 2006 battery's and only used ones. Not too sure tho. I do wish you good luck

Well I don't need "new" just the original lol. Maybe someone has a good used one or some wholesale/bulk company still has stock to sell. But yeah I may just get a cheap $25 one from amazon with good reviews.
I was just wondering tho, you think if we start calibrating the battery (should've done so before and I probably will start on my new MBP) it will fix the issue? Or is the battery done for?

For sure gonna try. It would just suck to give up the original battery for some cheap replacement. I'm really anal about my (and anybody around me) apple products having all original accessories.
I can't even stand to have a replacement USB cable for my iPhone. It has to be OEM lol.
