Aluminium Macbooks - Any Expierence?
Hello all,
I just ordered my new 2.0GHZ Aluminum Macbook, upgrading from a mid-2004 iBook Model
Does anyone have one of these new Macbooks? How are they? Mine comes tomorrow, and I can't wait to test it out.. was it worth the $1300?

Excellent computer. I am typing this on one right now. Never had an issue in the 1 1/2 years I've had it. run extensive music programs and interfaces and it never bogs down. I had a friend that picked one up on ebay for $1450 last month so $1300 is a decent deal.
Gives thanks...Do you?

^Unfortunately they haven't been out for 1.5 years, boss.

I have a 2.4 Aluminum MacBook with 4GB RAM and it's super sick, coming from Windows especially...
You'll like it a lot and the four-finger gestures are really cool, too!Respect your elders.

Well I assume he's talking just about the Macbook Pro maybe... or the White or Black Macbook... but they seem around the same, obviously when you pay more you get faster stuff, etc. Coming from a iBook though it should be a real change hahaha.
Thanks both of you for the responses, glad to hear that there hasn't been any issues for 1 and a half years, and glad to hear that the 2.4GHZ version works well, and that the new track-pad is good.
My iBook lasted long but 2 months ago the display hinge broke, and it won't hold any 'position'. It either falls closed or falls completely back, I had to duct-tape a side so it would stay 'up'. :P So this upgrade was very needed haha.
ALL DAY, Even though the track-pad has no real 'button' is it easy to get used to?

Yep... That being said, I have tap to click enabled so I'm not always pressing it down which is nice and much better in my opinion. The only annoying thing can be dragging/dropping, but it's not a huge issue.

I bought mine back in October I think it was and I really love it. I'm new to Mac and I found my way around OK. The drag and drop thing I usually use a mouse if I have to do a lot. The trackpad can be set to click or you can change it to tap. If you need to right clik you click the lower right hand corner of the pad tp bring up the menus. There are a lot of little short videos in Itunes under podcasts that you can look at to get some pointers. My only complaint about this machine( and youre all gonna think Im nuts) is when im using the trackpad I tend to rest my hand on the front edge and to me it seems a little sharp on the edge and its kinda irritating but its no big deal. Maybe a little chamfer on the edge would make it smoother but I guarantee you that you will not be disappointed. All the other little nitpickin you might read about is all personal preference I think. You be the judge. And enjoy your new machine

It came around 2PM, and so far it's great!! I love how the trackpad feels.. the only real thing to 'get used to' is the keyboard. Feels different then the iBook one, I can tell when I'm typing... but overall a great machine.
The other great thing is the overall speed of the computer, things open so fast and online-videos stream quickly, no more choppiness of the iBook. Streaming LOST in HD from ABC.com is great

I've been about three months now and mine is still sick as well. Battery is awesome, never gets hung up on anything, the ease of use is absurd; there are just so many little features this Mac has that makes life so much easier that a PC lacks and will lack for a long time.
