Zorro's iMac Modding thread!
Hey all...fairly new member here!
I am starting a new project and thought you might be interested
Here is my current setup:
24" iMac 3.06 - 4gb (4 more on the way!) 1Tb, Geoforce Gt 130 512MB, bought this past saturday and I freaking LOVE it!
23" HD Cinema display
Harmon Kardon soundsticks

Now on to the fun part!
I don't like that the monitors don't match aesthetically and I didn't want the LED cinema display since I work with photos and video and need at least ONE matte display.
Here's what I did
I ordered a brand new 24" iMac Bezel from ebay for like $75 shipped

What I am going to do is mount glossy black vinyl around the inside edge of the bezel then mount it to the apple HD display.
The end result should look like this rendering, keeping in mind the left screen will be matte:

After that, I will try to address the stand height difference.
Stay tuned for actual progress pics!
Thoughts?

what will you do about the actual size difference of the two displays?

Between the 23" and the 24", it's only 1 inch diagonal difference so the size difference will only be as shown:

The red indicating the 23" monitor area and the grey being the 24". I will increase the black glossy border to cover the difference which is barely noticeable, as per the attached image.

The bezel arrived by UPS today so now I need to start trimming the mounting posts that interfere with a flush mount.
I will post some more DIY as I go along.
