Question about mac apps and purchasing?

Hi there!

First off, I AM NOT A PIRATE! I don't condone it, and I don't do it! My question is merely inquisitive ; I'm trying to better understand how OSX works. So please don't remove this thread or ban me! Here goes:

Are there cracked applications for Macs? Say I wanted Photoshop CS5. What would be the process for finding and installing? I ask because I have very little knowledge of OSX, and the simple "patching a dll" or "running a keygen" on a Windows platform wouldn't work.

If are there aren't cracked apps for Macs, why not? What prevents the cracking and distribution of cracked software?
