Ballmer, Jobs Battle for Control of the L.A. Clippers
It's been a long time since we've seen Microsoft and Apple battle like this. And, this time, Microsoft is the clear and decisive winner.
Of course, we're not talking about technology or even the companies in a formal capacity. But two business leaders and philanthropists closely associated with their respective companies both stepped up recently in a bid to buy the Los Angeles Clippers.
"The sale of the Clippers continued on its bizarre journey late Thursday night when representatives of co-owner Shelly Sterling sent out a media release that the Sterling family trust has agreed to sell the team to former Microsoft Chief Executive Steve Ballmer for $2 billion," the L.A. Times reported this morning.
Ballmer, of course, is the former longtime CEO of Microsoft. And in his quest to control the Clippers, we're told Ballmer outbid Laurene Powell Jobs, the widow of late Apple co-founder and CEO Steve Jobs.
Although it's unclear just how many parties were involved in battle for ownership of the Clippers following the racist rants by former Clippers owner Donald Sterling, it looks like Ballmer and Jobs were the two top contenders for new owners all along.

Imagine how many jobs could be created, people fed, and illnesses taken care of with 2 billion dollars instead of wasting it on something as useless as sports.
