Default Hearthstone Becomes the Most Downloaded iPad App in 34 Countries a Day After its Launch

Games like Candy Crush, FarmVille, and all the other freemium games like them need to move away as we have a new competitor in town that appears to be taking the App Store by storm. Blizzard’s turn-based iPad game, Hearthstone: Heroes of Warcraft, seems to be catching the attention of many all over the world. Despite having a recent release on the iOS platform, the game is already the number one most downloaded game in 36 countries and the most downloaded app overall in 34 countries.

According to analyst Sterne Agee, the game will likely earn roughly $30 million in revenue this year alone. Much like aforementioned titles, Hearthstone is free to play but includes in-app purchases. It’s currently available on a Windows and Mac coupled with its recent iPad release. An iPhone version of the game is set to follow later this year, a move which will likely open up the game’s revenue streams further.

Those of you interested in trying the game should do so, it’s easy to understand yet appears to have a certain level of in-depth play behind it. My only warning to you is to be careful because it can get quite addictive!

This is the only free to play app I have ever spent money on... Too much money.

'In app purchases'- translate- 'Never give a sucker an even break'.
IAPs are a a purely evil sales strategy and whoever the marketing genius was that first ran this idea past their boss needs a bullet.
