Default MacBook Air With Retina Display Could Launch Later in 2014

Apple has offered a retina display version of their MacBook Pro for quite some time now, but the MacBook Air, which is Apple's thinnest and lightest notebook solution still has not received the high-density pixel display just yet.

A recent report from DigiTimes claims that the MacBook Air could finally receive a retina display later in the year.

Apple will launch new models in the second half of 2014. Apple will reportedly launch a MacBook Air with Retina display, the makers said.
In addition to the new high-density pixel display, it's obvious that the notebook would receive a power boost. The likelihood of an improved processor, as well as improved GPU performance are expected. Improved GPU performance would be necessary to drive the additional pixels in the display, while improved CPU performance is something we can usually expect from Apple with each refresh.

Doesn't need a gpu boost. The graphics cores in the Haswell processors are more than powerful enough.
