Kenyan Government Making Large Investment in iPads
Governments and public agencies across the world continue to accelerate spending on Apple devices. The latest is the Kenyan parliament, which will reportedly spend hundreds of thousands of dollars on iPads for members of government and their respective administrative assistants.
Kenya's Standard Digital News reports that the investment is valued at approximately $350,000.
Interestingly, the devices won't just be used for work inside of closed office doors. They will be used for public duties in the function of government. The Apple tablets will be used by the 349 members of parliament and 67 senators to access the parliamentary timetable, Order Paper, motions, Bills and other publications once they are uploaded on the parliamentary website or sent directly to the leaders.
"This will make life easy for honorable members because even in terms of getting the correct Standing Order that you may want to refer to, you only need to do a search on the Standing Orders on the relevant point," one member of parliament was quoted saying.
