Default Microsoft's Version of Siri to Launch This Spring

With voice-command based virtual assistants like Siri changing the mobile experience for millions of smartphone owners, it is understandable that Microsoft is eager to offer a Siri rival of its own.

And we may get our first look (and listen) this Spring. MSFTnerd reports that "Cortana" will be name of the virtual assistant. "Cortana will be voiced by Jen Taylor and will launch first in beta on Lumia this April for US developers," the report reads, not citing sources to corroborate the claims.

The service will expand to the Bing app for iPhone in the US market this fall. The underlying technology will be extended to American Xbox One & Windows users in 2015 with Threshold. Availability in additional English-speaking territories will be spread out over 2015 & 2016.
The same report notes that the speech recognition improvements have already begun to ship in the Bing Translator app for Windows.

Windows Phone, iOS, AND Spartan Suit compatible! I'm in!
They can have my jailbreak when they pry it from my cold dead fingers.

WANT: the Cortana port to iOS. Had been wanting to make a tweak that hooks into the audio side of things to manipulate the voice frequencies of Siri if possible! Imagine the voice of KITT, Jarvis, Cortana or Darth Vader being your voice assistant!

It's the one tweak I'd love to implement. Frequency ghosting is popular. Be great to get it to work!

Actually, I pulled the Marvel "Jarvis Ironman3" app to pieces, there's about 350 odd samples Paul Bettany recorded for it.

Reassign those samples in WB UISounds & u are pretty much there!

Yeah they said it's not necessary and people won't want it until then.
