Default Analyst Says Apple is Under Inescapable Pressure on iWatch

Last week, at the 2014 International Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas, hardware and software makers from around the world flocked to Sin City to reveal and demonstrate the future of consumer electronics. Like no other device or product category, wearable gadgets stole the show.

But one of the world's foremost mobile tech makers - Apple - was characteristically absent again from the global expo. Despite expectations that the company's smartwatch would be available by now, the "iWatch" was not on hand for the big show. And based on the latest industry and supply chain chatter out of Asia, the Apple smartwatch may still be months away from release.

Nonetheless, Apple has virtually no chance of backing away from this product launch, say a growing number of market watchers and analysts. Not only will the iWatch be critically important for Apple's bottom line and to silence critics fond of saying that the company has forgotten how to innovate, the wearable device industry at large will need Apple to enter the space to drive enough interest and sales for everyone.

Brian White has once again reiterated his belief that Apple will enter the wearable tech product category this year. White said in a recent note to investors that wearable tech was a “legitimate, new product category” after seeing multiple wearable tech devices at this year’s Consumer Electronics Show.
The Cantor Fitzgerald analyst warns that sales of wearable devices won't become “meaningful” until Apple gets into the game.

So once again Apple will revolutionise a gadget category when it enters and the rest of the industry will be left to copy.

Apple didn't invent the MP3 player, the smart phone or the tablet but when it entered all of these gadget markets it completely shook up those markets and showed the rest just how it should be done.

Now the smart watch market is waiting for Apple to come in again and show them how it's done.

    I cant wait.

I don't even see the point other than "other companies are doing it" hahaha! What happened to Apple being first, being an innovator? Yes, im sure if this does come to fruition that they will do it better than anyone else. At the same time, getting non watch wearing people to all of a sudden feel the need to have one...im definitely interested to see how this plays out. Like the statement above, the watch is meaningless without Apples 2 cents :]

Take your time apple. You don't have to do everything that everyone else is doing. (I'm not interested in an iwatch)

It'd be funny if Apple had no intention of actually bringing an iWatch to market but was sitting back laughing at all the other companies dumping money and time into a product to compete with a non-existant Apple product.

Really, I can't see a point in the iWatch. The only reason I might consider it would be for when I'm biking - I typically have my earbuds snaked into my backpack where my phone is and I'm listening to music, and if the phone rang, it'd be nice if the watch could display caller ID and I could answer via the watch instead of stopping and digging out my phone. However, I'm not sure it'd be important enough to me to get the iWatch, particularly if it costs more than $50 which I'm sure it would.

What proof is there to say they are making or planning on making one? There has only been concepts pics and videos. Haven't seen any proto type pieces to show proof of a actual concept.

Plus I wouldn't buy one. My 5S satisfies my needs

Apple doesn't have to put out anything they don't want to. Just because this analyst says that they pretty much have to now doesn't make it true. IF Apple feels like going down that road they will take all the time they need to come out with the best product possible. Time constraint has never been something they've succumbed to.

Take your time apple? There's been rumors about this stupid Iwatch for 4 years now, how much longer do you want them to take? This is the reason they are behind on hardware when compared to android, because they keep taking there time! Omg, Apple better thank there ecosystem for keeping them afloat. Thanks to Steve jobs for creating it.

If you read at the bottom it says it's because I'm not interested in an iwatch
