Controversy Swirls Around Apple's New Nevada Data Center
Proving once again that Apple and controversy are the peanut butter and jelly of the tech world, the prominent iDevice maker is stirring up a hornet's nest in Nevada this week where the company is poised to benefit from some pretty hefty tax benefits - benefits that don't sit well with some locals.
More than a year after state and local officials worked out incentives to bring Apple’s latest data center to Northern Nevada, the Apple deal is poised to provide Washoe County additional revenue via property taxes.
"With Apple negotiating an 85 percent abatement on its property taxes, Washoe County will forgo more than $803,000 in tax revenue from the data center during its first year of operation," explains Jason Hidalgo of RJG, citing analysis by Applied Economics.
From year six to year 10, Hidaldo adds, "annual tax revenue forgone from the abatement will total nearly $10 million."
Apple's construction on 345 acres of the 2,200-acre Reno technology park is expected to continue for at least two more years.

I'd say go after your county or state to complain. Their the ones trying to lure Apple to come there. A course Apple is going to take advantage of the taxes breaks. States do not care about the general public and how many jobs it going to produce. A lot states only care about one thing! MONEY and how much are you going to give us.

They would have lost a lot more money if apple chose to go somewhere else. Idiots.
