Safari 6.1 Released for OS X Mountain Lion
Apple just released OS X Mavericks to the public on Tuesday, but Apple hasn’t stopped support for earlier versions of the OS X operating system, such OS X Mountain Lion.
On Tuesday, Apple also released Safari version 6.1 to the public for OS X Mountain Lion users. The update adds a number of new features and improvements to the native Web browser for Mac users.
Of these new features, some of the most notable are shared links, which let you see links from people you follow on Twitter, a new Sidebar, which lets you see all your bookmarks, your reading list, and your shared links all conveniently grouped in one place, one-click bookmarking, to make it easier to save a Web page for later, a power saver, to make only the necessary plug-ins run at a given time to reduce power consumption and save your battery, third party data blocking, and lastly, support for the Russian Yandex search engine.
Safari 6.1 can be downloaded from the Mac App Store for free, or by going to the Menu and choosing “Software Update.” The installation is rather quick and won’t require a reboot. It is recommended for all OS X Mountain Lion users.
