Apple Unveils iWork 2013 and iLife 2013
On Tuesday at Apple’s Yerba Buena-based special event, the tech giant unveiled all new versions of both of the company's major software suites, iLife and iWork, dubbed iLife 2013 and iWork 2013.
iLife and iWork have been re-written for the Mac with improved features and designs. The application icons have been tweaked as well. iLife and iWork will also see updates for iOS, bringing all-new flatter interfaces and features for iOS 7 users. The new application icons for the iOS applications are in line with those leaked earlier this week.
In the iLife suite, Garageband sees improvements with a "Drummer" mode for adding a beat to any music you might be creating, and support for both 18 and 32 track music. iPhoto has also been given improvements with its photo handling. iMovie gets additional support for varying frame rates, such as those that can be captured with the iPhone 5s. Collaboration for iCloud will be a major new feature in iWork 2013, allowing multiple users to edit documents over the cloud in real time.
These suites will take full advantage of the new 64-bit architecture in Apple's latest A7 devices.
iLife and iWork will be made available for free for those purchasing new Mac or iOS devices. For existing users, the updates for all of the applications will be made available starting today, Tuesday, October 22.
