Default Usage of Apple's iPad and iPhone Continue to Remain Strong among Teens in the US

Apple’s iPhone and iPad continue to remain popular among young people according to a new study that shows the iPhone in the hands of more than half of American teens. The figures which come from Piper Jaffray analyst, Gene Munster, indicate that the iPhone represented nearly 55% of all phones used by teens in the United States. The figure is up 7% points from the last study which was conducted in April of this year. Another point to note is that 65% of teens said they planned for their next phone to be an iPhone, up from 62% in April.

The iPad also seems to be enjoying considerable popularity among teens in the US with 68% of tablet-holding teens reporting that they own an iPad. Among tablet-owning teens, 60% reported they owned a full-size iPad, while 8%reported owning an iPad mini. The teens who are saying they plan to buy a tablet in the next six months are overwhelmingly future Apple buyers with the iPad currently holding a 64% share.

The results, which were already positive in the favor of Apple, indicate that the Cupertino California company may still have room to grow. Nearly half of teens don’t yet own a tablet, though the number shrank 5% over the past six months. If the teens hold to their survey responses, Apple’s market share among young people is likely to increase in their favor yet again. Here, it should be noted that Piper Jaffray’s survey is built on interviews with thousands of teens from high-income families (household income of $104,000 or higher) and similar visits with more teens from average-income families ($54,000). He study had a total participant pool of 8,643 surveyors.

There's a girl in a lot of my classes whose life almost revolves around her iPhone... She is always trying to tell someone about the "funniest tweet or vine" that really aren't funny at all. I told her her life was mundane and pitiful but she missed the comment because her headphones were on.
