Apple, Samsung Prep for 'War' on August 9th
Mark your calendars. Apple and Samsung are headed for an epic courtroom clash that could be more consequential than the battles we're used to at this point.
In late 2012, U.S. District Court Judge Lucy Koh infamously rejected Apple’s request for a permanent sales ban on several Samsung devices, the only setback in the iDevice maker's massive jury trial win.
Although the court ruled in favor of Apple, determining that Samsung had infringed on Apple's patents, Koh didn't see eye to eye with Apple on the requested ban of more than a dozen Samsung products.
“The phones at issue in this case contain a broad range of features, only a small fraction of which are covered by Apple’s patents,” Koh wrote at the time. “It does not follow that entire products must be forever banned from the market because they incorporate, among their myriad features, a few narrow protected functions.”
Not surprisingly, Apple didn't see it that way and appealed the decision.
After all this time, Apple has now been given its day in court. The U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit in Washington, D.C. said this week that it will hear arguments in the case from both Apple and Samsung on Aug. 9. It goes without saying that the outcome of this showdown could be immensely significant for the party that walks away with what they've requested.

Most of us already know this, so I wouldn't make it sound like a huge "war" since its been going on for awhile now.
