iPad Earns the Highest Consumer Satisfaction Rank for Tablets in South Korea Once Again
Apple’s iPad has earned the highest consumer satisfaction rank for tablets in South Korea’s National Customer Satisfaction Index, coming out ahead of Samsung and LG in their home territory. The rankings were reported by Kim Tae Woo of BetaNews. The NCSI started ranking products in the tablet sector in 2010 and Apple has ranked in first place for three consecutive years in a row since. This year, Apple’s ranking improved by 1.4 points or nearly 2%.
The report stated that Korea’s “domestic tablet market is still not exploding but it is clear that [it] is growing steadily.” The iPad mini was cited as having “attracted high popularity,” and noted that “rich iPad-only apps showing maturity and high product quality,” an “excellent touch user experience” helped contribute toward Apple’s lead in the rankings.
Over the past year, Samsung has been focusing its advertising campaigns on the message that their products are “the next big thing,” rapidly winning over the media which has decided that Apple wasn’t “innovative” anymore. After Samsung’s latest Galaxy S4, the press has seemed to quickly grow tired of its novel eye tracking features that don’t always work. Android enthusiasts have instead directed attention towards HTC’s One, which they are claiming is a better built device being overshadowed by Samsung’s powerful advertising budget.
Meanwhile, despite many complaints that Apple hasn’t launched any new product updates throughout the spring and summer, the iPhone 5 seems to be eating up new market share in the U.S. Apple’s newly announced redesign of iOS 7 will also force Samsung to either come up with its own parallel refresh or end up seeming outdated.
We’ll have to see what changes if any the competition will make and if Apple will be able to maintain a leg up on its competition going forward.
