Report: iRadio to be Announced Monday at WWDC
On Monday, Apple CEO Tim Cook is expected to formally unveil Apple's new iRadio streaming music service during the kick-off to WWDC 2013.
Sources are now confirming that the service is ready for its official unveiling, although it isn't yet clear how soon the public will be able to access iRadio.
The music service, dubbed "iRadio" by the tech industry and media, is expected to closely resemble Pandora Music in its monetization strategy. It will feature audio and banner ads sold through Apple's iAd mobile network, said the people who were not authorized to speak publicly.
"The audio ads will be sold via iAd, Apple's mobile ad network, according to a former Apple executive with knowledge of the situation," AdAge's John McDermott reported Wednesday. "In addition to audio ads, the streaming music service will also contain the mobile ads iAd currently sells."
For now, it isn't known how many licensing deals Apple has secured with music labels or advertising agreements with major brands. But, based on what we can tell, Apple has made enough progress to where the company is comfortable raising the curtain on this long awaited service.

I really REALLY hope this is going to be something different than just the typical streaming like Pandora. I don't really care about the ads, but there needs to be some sort of factor that makes it different than all the other internet radio apps and sites out there. Honestly, I'm still hoping for the Zune..er..Xbox Music app to be made like M$ said.. I'd love that on my iPhone.

Just because its made by apple, it doesn't mean it's gonna be awesome. Apple is greedy, they simply want a piece of the "pandora" pie. It's all about money folks, stop thinking apple is gonna bring you this new revolutionary service. I'm sticking with pandora.

I'm no fan of Apple's accounting practices it, but face it, if it ain't illegal, they're going to try to do it if they think it will make money. And while it actually is about the money, it doesn't mean that can't bring something revolutionary or evolutionary to market -- if it is profitable.
